Filament spunbond needle-punched geotextile

Continuous polyester filament, spun into a web and needle-punched. The brochure offers a mass from 80 to 800 g/m².

Chips of polyester are spun, laid as a filament web and needle-punched into the sheet. Fibers sit in a three-dimensional arrangement rather than a woven yarn pattern.

The brochure describes strength together with in-plane drainage in both directions, elongation, a wide and tortuous pore range, and resistance to biological attack, acids, alkalis and ageing.

What the brochure emphasises

  • Filtration and separation under embankments, revetments and channels.
  • Separation, filtration and drainage under roads, railways and runways.
  • Reinforcement and drainage at slopes, retaining walls and pavements.
  • Soft-ground treatment, beach reclamation, and drainage or reinforcement at quays and breakwaters.

Uses named in the brochure

  • Hydraulic embankments and slope protection.
  • Channels: separation, and seepage control where the design asks for it.
  • Roads, railways and airfields.
  • Ports and coastal reclamation.

Stated in the brochure

  • The brochure says polyester filament geotextile is already common in infrastructure and is being used more widely.
